This website, datingxlence.com (“DatingXLence”, the “site”), is owned and operated by Ray Baker (“we”, “us” or “our”). We respect your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

By using this site you agree to the practices described here. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site or give us your details.

1. What personal information we collect

Information you give us

• Email sign-ups: when you join our email list we collect your first name and email address. If the sign-up form asks for it, we also collect whether you’d like tips for men or women (Male or Female), so we can send tips that are more relevant to you.
• Messages to us: if you contact us, we collect your name, email address and anything you include in your message.
• Comments: if you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and comment you submit, plus your IP address (to help fight spam).

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, our systems and service providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the pages you view, how long you stay, the site that referred you and your approximate location (city or country level). This is collected through server logs, cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).

Information we don’t ask for

We don’t ask for sensitive information, such as details about your health, sexual orientation or practices, religious beliefs or racial or ethnic origin. Please don’t send us this kind of information. We also don’t collect payment details, because we don’t sell anything directly on this site.

Staying anonymous

You can read the site without telling us who you are. You only need to give us your details if you want to join the email list, leave a comment or contact us.

2. How we use your information

• to send you the emails you signed up for, such as dating tips, articles, reviews and offers from dating sites and related services we think may interest you
• to tailor our emails (for example by the Male or Female option, if you chose one when you signed up)
• to reply to your messages and requests
• to understand how people use the site so we can improve our content
• to track which affiliate links are clicked so our partners can credit us with commissions (see our Affiliate Disclosure)
• to keep the site secure and prevent spam, fraud and abuse
• to meet our legal obligations

We won’t use your information for purposes unrelated to these without your consent, unless the law allows or requires it.

3. Our email list and how to unsubscribe

We only send marketing emails to people who have asked to receive them. When you sign up, you’ll usually get a confirmation email, and you’ll need to click the link in it before you’re added to the list (this is called “double opt-in”).

You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any of our emails. You can also ask us to remove you through our Contact Us page. We’ll process unsubscribe requests promptly, and within five working days as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

Our email sign-ups and newsletters are handled by our email marketing provider, Moosend. Moosend stores your details on our behalf and may record whether you open our emails or click links in them, which helps us understand what our readers find useful.

4. Who we share your information with

We don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with:

• service providers who help us run the site, such as our website host, our email marketing provider (Moosend) and security or anti-spam services (such as Akismet, which checks comments for spam). They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
• affiliate networks and partners, such as CJ Affiliate and the dating sites we link to, through the tracking cookies described below.
• authorities or others where the law requires or allows it, for example to respond to a lawful request, or to protect someone’s safety or our legal rights.

5. Cookies, analytics and affiliate tracking

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We and our partners use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes.

• Essential and preference cookies: these make the site work properly, for example by remembering that you’ve closed or chosen not to see our sign-up pop-up.
• Analytics: we don’t currently use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics cookies on this site. Our website host may keep standard server logs (see section 1), which we may use in summary form to understand how the site is used. If we start using an analytics service, we’ll update this policy first.
• Affiliate tracking cookies: when you click an affiliate link, the affiliate network (such as CJ Affiliate) and/or the partner’s website may set a cookie on your device. This records that you came from DatingXLence, so we can be paid a commission if you sign up or buy something. We normally only see summary reports (for example, that a sign-up took place), not your name or payment details. The network and the partner handle this information under their own privacy policies.
• Third-party content: some pages include embedded videos, social media and share buttons (for example YouTube, Facebook or AddToAny). These services may set their own cookies when you view or interact with that content.

Managing cookies: most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block cookies, some parts of the site may not work as intended, and affiliate partners may not be able to credit us for your visit, but it won’t cost you anything.

6. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers are located, or store data, outside Australia. In particular, our email marketing provider (Moosend) and our anti-spam service (Akismet) may store data in the European Union and the United States, and some providers may also store data in other countries. Affiliate networks and dating sites we link to may also be located overseas, including in the United States.

We take reasonable steps to choose reputable providers that protect personal information. However, overseas providers are subject to the laws of their own countries, which may differ from Australian law.

7. How we protect and keep your information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. These include using secure (HTTPS) connections, reputable service providers and restricted account access. No method of storing or sending information online is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or as required by law. For example, we keep your email address while you’re subscribed. When we no longer need information, we take reasonable steps to delete it or de-identify it.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it’s wrong, out of date or incomplete. You can also ask us to delete it. Just contact us through our Contact Us page. We may need to confirm your identity first. We’ll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We won’t charge you for making a request. If we can’t give you access or make a correction, we’ll explain why in writing, unless it would be unreasonable to do so.

9. Questions and complaints

If you have a question or a complaint about how we’ve handled your personal information, please contact us through our Contact Us page and tell us what happened. We’ll look into it and aim to respond within 30 days.

If you’re not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

10. Links to other websites

Our site links to other websites, including dating sites and affiliate partners. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please read the privacy policy of any site before you give it your personal information.

11. Adults only

This site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has given us their details, please contact us and we’ll delete them.

12. Visitors from outside Australia

Depending on where you live, you may have extra privacy rights under your local laws. Contact us if you’d like to exercise them and we’ll do our best to help.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change email providers or start using new tools. We’ll post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top.
