7 Signs that You Are Not Dating the Right Person

How do you know that you are not dating the right person? Do you know the telltale signs that can indicate you are not made for each other? If you hear that nagging voice inside you telling you your relationship simply wouldn’t work, then it’s probably time to take a closer look at the situation. For all you know, it may be telling you that you need to get out of the relationship for your own good.

So, do you believe that you are in a relationship with the right person? Are you headed toward perpetual bliss and happiness? Here are some signs that can tell you that you are heading toward the opposite direction:

You cannot be who you really are. Do your friends tell you that you’ve changed? Do you feel that you cannot show the real you when you are with your partner for fear of being criticized? Well, if you can relate to these scenarios, then you are definitely dating the wrong person. When you feel that you have to watch your every word or act in a way that will please your partner, then the relationship is probably not worth pursuing after all.

You are not happy. If you are not enjoying the time you spend with your partner and you don’t feel that inner glow and contentment, then there is definitely something wrong with the relationship. Those who are lucky enough to be with the right person usually feel a general sense of happiness while those who are not feel miserable. Which of these two describes how you feel?

You feel emotionally drained. Good relationships tend to energize you while bad relationships will certainly exhaust you. Being in the right relationship will lift your moods and boost your self-esteem while being in the opposite situation will drain you of your energy and intensify your self-doubts. So, which boat are you in?

dating the right person2Your friends are concerned about you. If your closest and most trusted friends are not happy about the relationship and they are urging you to get out of it, then you should definitely listen to what they have to say. Let’s face it; they see things more objectively than you do, especially when it comes to things that concern your relationship. Listen to what they have to say and keep an open mind about it. Remember, your friends only want what’s best for you. Don’t deny the things you know for a fact are true just because you desperately want the relationship to work.

You don’t see yourself spending the rest of your life with your partner. If you have been going out for a while but you just don’t see yourself spending the rest of your life with the person you are dating, you should carefully assess the situation. Let me assure you, if you are going out with the right person, then this shouldn’t be the case. You should start seeing yourself spending the future with your partner. If not, then there may be something amiss.

You are not compatible with each other. If you don’t enjoy doing the things your partner loves and vice versa, then it will require a lot of work for the relationship to survive. Are you both willing to give it your best effort to make the relationship work? Remember, you may be fighting an uphill battle so don’t expect this to be easy.

There are more drawbacks than benefits in staying in the relationship. Now, to know whether the relationship is worth keeping, why don’t you sit down, calm your senses, enter a more objective state of mind and draw a list of the pros and cons of staying in the relationship using the points given above? If the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, then by all means, try your best to make the relationship work. If it doesn’t, then you should think about ending the relationship for good.

Dating the wrong person can bring more frustrations and negative energy into your life so if the relationship just doesn’t work despite your efforts to save it, then you should consider breaking up with your partner. Find someone who makes you happy and feel good about yourself. Find someone you would be proud to introduce to your closest friends. If you find the one person who can fill all those needs, then you’ll know that you’re in the right relationship.

I sincerely hope you’ll find the right one for you,
